What we collect

We are not a health care provider, and we place no nurses or caregivers. We do collect a small amount of information that Washington law treats as consumer health data:

  • in searches for a companion for an older member of a household, what the household tells us about that person’s health, memory, mobility and needs, so that we can find a companion suited to them;
  • in searches for nannies and chefs, the allergies, diets and medical needs of the members of the household that staff must know about to keep them safe;
  • from candidates, information about a disability or health condition that a candidate tells us about in order to ask for an adjustment, and confirmation that a candidate holds the first aid and food safety certificates a role requires.

Where it comes from

From the household, or the person acting for it, and from candidates themselves. We do not obtain health information from anyone else, and nothing on this website collects it.

Why we use it

Only to carry out the search and the placement for which it was given: to write the brief, to choose candidates suited to it, and to tell the candidate who is placed what they need to know to do the work safely. We collect it with the consent of the person it concerns, or of the person legally able to give consent for them, and we do not use it for any other purpose.

Who we share it with

Candidates invited to interview are told what they need to know about the household’s health needs to decide whether to accept the role. The candidate who is placed is told what they need to do the work. Our Swiss partner is told what it needs for a placement in Switzerland. We do not share consumer health data with anyone else, except as the law requires, and we never sell it.

Your rights

You have the right to know whether we collect, share or sell your consumer health data; to see it and the names of anyone we have shared it with; to withdraw your consent; and to have it deleted. Write to privacy@larchcombe.com or call (206) 014-6182. We will answer within forty-five days, and we may need to confirm who you are first. If we decline your request, you may ask our managing director to review the decision, and she will answer within forty-five days.

How long we keep it

For as long as the placement it was given for lasts, and then as our privacy notice and candidate privacy notice describe. Health information is not recorded on the placement card we keep permanently.
